I create content engineered to be cited inside AI answers — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and voice assistants. Answer-first structure, FAQ schema, entity consistency, and measurement you can actually verify. One honest rule up front: nobody can guarantee a citation. Anyone who promises one is selling confidence, not data.
By Samar Ameer, SEO Content Writer
Your customers are changing how they search. Instead of scrolling ten blue links, they ask ChatGPT "who's the best dentist near me" or read the AI Overview at the top of Google — and the businesses named inside that answer get the call. Everyone else is invisible on the most valuable real estate in search.
I'm Samar Ameer, and I help businesses become the answer AI gives. My AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) content service rebuilds your key pages so AI systems can find, understand, extract, and trust them — the four things that decide who gets cited. Built on Google's own guidance, measured honestly, and specialized for local businesses, where almost nobody is doing this yet.
Think about the last time you researched a purchase. There's a good chance part of it happened inside an AI answer — a summarized comparison, a direct recommendation, a "here are your best options" paragraph. For your customers, that paragraph is becoming the entire buying journey: they read the AI's answer and call whoever it names.
This changes what "ranking" means. Position #1 in classic results still matters — AI systems mostly cite pages that already rank well — but it's no longer sufficient. The winners now are pages that are both ranked and quotable: clean 40–60 word answers, question-formatted headings, specific facts instead of adjectives. My AEO guide breaks down the full mechanics; this service puts them to work on your site.
The jargon confuses buyers, so here's the honest version:
Google itself frames this plainly: optimizing for generative AI search is optimizing for the search experience — it's still SEO, not a separate magic discipline. As RedForkMarketing's small-business guide argues: don't buy three services — buy one plan that covers three jobs, starting with the foundation. Anyone selling you "AI SEO" as something entirely divorced from classic SEO is selling you a rebrand. My work treats the three as one coordinated system: rank first, then become quotable, then become the brand AI mentions by name. (For the platform-by-platform mechanics, TenSpeed's breakdown is the clearest I've found: AEO wins the single direct answer inside conversational tools; GEO earns a citation inside a multi-source summary.)
WHAT GOOGLE SAYS
Google's Search Central documentation on AI features in Search is the trust anchor for this entire service: there is no special "AI schema" or secret markup that gets you cited. What matters is the same foundation Google has always rewarded — crawlable pages, clear content, descriptive headings, accurate structured data — plus content written so answers can be extracted cleanly. If a provider's pitch contradicts Google's own docs, believe Google.
Getting cited isn't one trick. It's a system with five parts, and most businesses are missing at least three:
Here's the angle every AEO agency misses: for local queries — "best plumber near me," "emergency dentist open Sunday" — AI systems cross-reference your Google Business Profile before they cite your site. The AI checks your categories, hours, reviews, and services the same way a customer would. An incomplete profile is the most common reason local businesses miss AI citations they should win.
This is my natural edge: I'm a local SEO content writer first. While enterprise AEO agencies sell $3,000/month programs to SaaS companies, I'm doing AI-answer work for the plumber, the dentist, the law firm — optimizing the GBP content and the website content as one system, because for local searches that's what the AI actually reads. Nobody else is selling "AI answers for local businesses" as a dedicated service. I am.
If your profile is half-empty, we start there — see my Google Business Profile optimization service — then build the website content layer on top.
2026 PRICING BENCHMARKS
Published agency pricing for AI search visibility work: one-time foundation sprints $500–$2,500; monthly programs $500–$3,000/month; per-page answer-first restructures $150–$400/page (PixelCrayons, published rates). Industry pricing guides note the range stretches from ~$1,000 to $15,000/month at the enterprise end — and advise that any provider who can't clearly explain how they measure results isn't worth evaluating at any price.

The market for this work is young, which means pricing is all over the map — and hype is everywhere. Use the benchmarks above to sanity-check any proposal, including mine:

| One-time AI visibility audit | $500–$2,500 | Knowing exactly where you stand: crawler access, quotability gaps, entity issues |
| Per-page answer-first restructure | $150–$400/page | Rebuilding your 3–5 money pages so AI can quote them |
| Monthly program | $500–$3,000/month | Ongoing content, measurement, and citation growth over quarters |
My pricing: quoted per project after a free visibility check — I'll run your business through the same 5-part check above and show you what's actually missing before quoting anything. No retainers sold on fear, no "AI schema packages," no upsells you don't need. Get your free AI visibility check.
This space attracts hype sellers. Walk away from any provider who:
I publish this list on my own sales page because the fastest way to earn your trust is to show you how to spot the people who'd abuse it.
Here's the uncomfortable truth: Search Console shows no AI Overview click data. So we measure with a system built for the blind spot:
What I won't do: invent a "citation rate" or show you a dashboard of made-up percentages. If a number can't be verified, it doesn't go in the report. (The demand for this work is real — a 2026 survey of 343 marketing decision-makers found 24% of search budgets now go to AI visibility, per BizScoreAI — which is exactly why the scam filter above matters.)
Google Search Console data from a client project — 466 AI Overview impressions in 3 months. Client site name hidden for privacy.
AEO is the practice of structuring your content so AI systems can extract and quote it inside their answers — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, voice assistants. It means answer-first pages: the direct answer up top, question-formatted headings, FAQ sections, and specific facts AI can lift verbatim.
SEO earns rankings and clicks in classic search. AEO formats content to be quoted inside AI answers. GEO builds your brand's presence across the sources AI draws on — mentions, reviews, consistent listings — so generative answers name you. They work as one system: SEO first, then AEO formatting, then GEO presence.
Rank well for the query first — citations are typically drawn from pages already ranking on page one. Then make those pages quotable: a 40–60 word direct answer under the H1, question headings, FAQ sections, lists and tables, and specific facts. Add FAQPage schema and keep your business information consistent everywhere.
No — and anyone selling that is running a scam. OpenAI has stated that advertising doesn't influence ChatGPT's answers. Citations are earned through rankable, quotable content and genuine third-party presence (reviews, mentions, consistent listings), not bought.
Published market rates: one-time audits $500–$2,500, per-page restructures $150–$400/page, monthly programs $500–$3,000/month. I quote per project after a free AI visibility check — request yours here.
With a fixed monthly prompt log (10–20 real customer questions, run identically each month, tracking whether you're cited and who got cited instead), plus AI referral traffic in your analytics. There is no Search Console equivalent for AI answers — anyone promising exact "share of voice" percentages is guessing.
It helps AI systems understand your content — FAQPage, HowTo, and LocalBusiness schema remove ambiguity about what a page contains. But Google says no special "AI schema" is required, and schema alone never guarantees a citation. It's one part of the five-part system, not the product.
Often more than for big companies — because "near me" queries are among the most common AI Overview triggers, and local AI answers lean heavily on your Google Business Profile, which is cheaper to optimize than outranking national competitors. If customers find you through local searches, AI answers are already shaping who they call.
I'll run your business through the 5-part citation check — crawler access, quotability, schema, entity consistency, and your GBP's AI readiness — and show you exactly what's missing. Free, no pitch.
